Today we had some very heavy snow, with blizzard conditions for a while. As many of our children come to school by bus, from up in the hills, where conditions were worse, we had to close the school at lunchtime and send everyone home. This is the play area at the back of the school.
Some of the children decided to come back to school after we closed today, with their sledges. Here they are using the hill at the back of the school.
This was the view from the window of the classroom this afternoon. All the children had been sent home by now.
This is Yester church, in the centre of the village. It has been snowing here and it is looking very beautiful. This type of weather is very unusual here in East Lothian. (I have not reduced the size of these pictures too much, so click on them for a larger version.)
This is The Avenue, which leads to the park, where children often play football when the weather is better. In the park, it's also possible to play cricket in the summer. This is a very unusual scene for us, as it is only very rarely as cold as it has been today!
This is one of the main roads into the village. It's a very beautiful scene, with the snow on all the trees.
This is down in the centre of the village, close to the village hall.
