Class 6 in an excursion

Class 6 from Kuvansi school was spending a few days in Tanhuvaara school of sports in Savonlinna.

We went to Tanhuvaara on the 27th and left on the 29th of August.
Some parents came with us in order to guide us and spend some time with us.

We had a meal time four times a day. The food was really good. The accommodation was fine: there were two or three pupils in one room. The rooms were spacious and fine.

Here is a small portray in words and pictures from our excursion.

Climbing down the cliff

Climbing down the cliff was very scary, but I tried that anyway. The start was the most scary because I was afraid that the rope would break. When the start was over then began the next step: the cliff was very steep. I thought I wouldn’t succeed in climbing down but I went anyway. When it was over I felt unbelievable great.

Wallclimb

The wallclimbing was the funniest. The easy lane was very easy. Two boys reached the ceiling like monkeys. The next wall was little harder. Five girls reached the ceiling. It was very exciting to sway by the ceiling after climbing.
There were "monkey’s rings". It was very hard because my hands were sweating and the rings were slippery.

The cablesliding

The cable sliding was funny. At first we had to climb along the ladders to the plateau which was near the ceiling. There we had to wear some kind of harness. The harness was hooked to the cable. From there we fell down and slid along a long cable. It stopped and I left.

Skaelskor anniversary!

Our town was going to celebrate the anniversary of 525 years as market town and we set out to find out more about the day. Market town or market right is a legal term, originating in the medieval period, for a European settlement that has the right to hold markets and in Denmark there were other privileges:
· Sole right to perform handcrafts and trade within a certain area
· Right of administration other than state
· Own court of law
· Free of some taxes
· No army duty
The privileges were given by the king of the territory and distinguished the market towns from villages and cities. A town may be still described as a market town even if it no longer holds a market, provided the right to do so still exists.
To our surprise we found that the first privileges for certain were given already in 1240 by King Valdemar the Second and it was applied that privileges might have been given even earlier.
1414 King Erik of Pommern confirms the rights and privileges
1441 King Christopher the Third confirms the rights.
1472 King Christian the First confirms and makes rights more specific.
1483 King Hans confirms the rights.
So as you see it was really only the confirmation of rights by King Hans that we were celebrating. It made a bit of a stir in the papers, but the celebrating, thank god, was still on.
So we send you a little Power Point to show you some of the event.
